Position: Medical Director

Reports to: The Iroquois County Board of Health & Public Health Administrator

Qualifications: A person licensed to practice medicine in all its branches in Illinois and who, under an agreement with a local board of health, provides medical oversight to the public health department, in accordance with the following:

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Reviews the standing orders for the public health clinic and amends the standing orders from time to time in keeping with current trends in sound medical practice.
  2. Reviews the standing orders, as amended, with the professional staff of the public health clinic at least once a year.
  3. Participates in a site visit of the clinic covered by the standing order periodically.
  4. Signs standing orders for medical procedures conducted in the public health clinic in conformance with sound medical practice
  5. Is available for consultation with the professional clinic staff.
  6. Work in collaboration with the Public Health Administrator (PHA) in the overall management of the Immunization Program.
  7. Follows confidentiality requirement at all times.
  8. Adheres to personnel policies and procedures.
  9. The Iroquois Public Health Department promotes the retention of culturally competent, strengths-oriented personnel who possess and understanding of the communities served. Applicants will be evaluated on their sensitivity to the service population’s culture and socioeconomic characteristic.
  10. Skilled in completing and signing documents electronically using platforms such as DocuSign, Adobe Sign, or internal systems.
  11. Demonstrates clear and effective communication through email, text, and phone, based on situational needs.
  12. Experienced in reviewing, verifying, and certifying authorizations on state-mandated forms and applications related to public health, clinical operations, and regulatory compliance.
  13. Proficient and knowledgeable in the use of electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems, including secure storage, retrieval, and adherence to HIPAA and state data security regulations.
  14. Competent in using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other standard software for documentation, scheduling, and communication tasks.
  15. Quick to learn and effectively navigate agency-specific systems for secure communication, digital signatures, and electronic form processing.

Compensation and Term: One-year contract, paid $6,000 annually.
